PHOENIX, AZ. (THECOUNT) — Kevin Vazquez-Teran has been identified as the young motorcycle rider killed following a crash Thursday night in north Phoenix, Arizona.
Vazquez-Teran, 20, was operating a motorcycle at a high rate of speed around 7 p.m. near 40th Street and Cactus Road, when a Nissan Altima making a left turn crossed in front of the motorcycle, causing the vehicles to collide.
The victims was traveling westbound on Cactus Road when he entered the intersection at 40th Street at a high rate of speed and collided with a Nissan Altima, reports AZFamily on Friday morning.
Police said Vazquez-Teran was wearing a helmet at the time of the violent crash.
He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of multiple blunt force injuries.
A 65-year-old passenger of the Altima was transported with unknown injuries. Five other occupants of the Altima, including a 3-year-old boy, were uninjured in the collision.
Police said the 36-year-old Altima driver was not impaired when the crash occurred, remained at the scene and cooperated with arriving officials.
The motorcycle’s speed appears to be a factor in the crash, according to a report.
The investigation is ongoing.
