NASHVILLE, TN. (THECOUNT) — Dwayne Sims, of Antioch, has been identified as the pedestrian fatally struck by a vehicle in Tennessee on Tuesday night.
Sims, 28, was on-foot in the area of Hamilton Church Road in Antioch, Tennessee after 9:00 p.m., when he was hit by a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Carlos Valle Romero.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, Sims was walking along the westbound lane when he was hit by Romero’s 2014 Nissan Altima, reported WSMV on Wednesday.
The driver, who remained on the scene and cooperated with arriving officials, indicated he did not see Sims in time to avoid hitting him.
Sims was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
According to officials, this section of Hamilton Church Road does not have street lights, a shoulder or sidewalks.
Investigators said they do not anticipate filing charges against Romero.
