SAN FRANCISCO, CA. (THECOUNT) — Missing Daly City woman, Christa Mahoney, has been identified as the body found in San Francisco Bay last week, say officials.
Mahoney, 37, was reported missing last month after last seen on Jan. 26, eating lunch with her dog “Buddy” at downtown San Francisco restaurant John’s Grill.
That same day Buddy was found wandering alone near Union Square. Mahoney’s wallet and phone were found on the San Francisco Municipal Railway line N-Judah along The Embarcadero, reported smdailyjournal.
Friends said at the time of her disappearance that it was very unusual that Mahoney would leave her dog unattended. She was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, friends said.
San Francisco police said officers recovered a body, later identified as Mahoney, on Feb. 1 in the water, but didn’t specify where exactly.
Foul play was not suspected.
Buddy has been adopted by Mahoney’s friends.
