ODESSA, TX. (THECOUNT) — Maylin Gabriela Melo Perez has been identified as the victim in a fatal Odessa, Texas, crash on Wednesday.

Melo Perez, 36, was operating a Toyota 4Runner with two children passengers, traveling on Andrews Hwy near the intersection of 87th St, when she ran a stop sign and collided with another vehicle.

Martina Nabarrete Banuelos, 54, was traveling northbound on Andrews Highway in a H2 Hummer and struck Meol Perez as she passed through the intersection, reports NewsWest9.

Odessa Police and Odessa Fire Rescue responded to the accident scene and discovered Melo Perez mortally injured and two children suffering from critical injuries.

Melo Perez was pronounced deceased on scene of multiple blunt force injuries.

Both children, a 2-year-old male and 6-year-old male, were transported to area hospitals and are currently listed in critical condition.

Banuelos was also transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
