LAKE CHARLES, LA. (THECOUNT) — David M. Pendley, has been identified as the Louisiana man, believed to have killed his wife and stabbed his son before killing himself at a Lake Charles home early Friday morning, authorities said.
Pendley, 52, killed himself after killing his wife, Katherine Pendley, 59, and injuring his son, in apparent murder-suicide that occurred Friday on Bennie Lane near Ham Reid Road, in Lake Charles.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a disturbance at 2 a.m. after a 911 caller said a suspect had stabbed his 24-year-old son, according to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Upon arrival, deputies found the unidentified son at a neighbor’s house.
He was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated and released.
When deputies entered the Pendley’s home, they found Pendley and his wife, Katherine, dead.
“The investigation is in the preliminary stages; however, at this point in the investigation detectives believe it is a possible murder-suicide,” officials said. source
Authorities determined the son was stabbed when he tried to intervene his father injuring his mother.
Detectives say they were forced to shoot and kill the family dog upon entry.
The case remains under investigation.
