PHOENIX, AZ. (THECOUNT) — Jennifer Vegtel and her son, Logan, have been identified as the victims killed in a State Route 51 crash Monday evening.
Vegtel, 31, and her 5-year-old son, were traveling in a Kia on Route 51 Monday around 6 p.m. when they were killed in a four-vehicle crash, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said.
A Chevrolet pickup, driven by 34-year-old Edgar Ramos-Esteban, was traveling on Route 51 when it came into contact with the rear of Vegtel’s Kia. The impact caused the Kia to strike the rear of a Volkswagen sedan which then crashed into an Isuzu truck.
Vegtel and her son were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Volkswagen was a 48-year-old man and the driver of the truck was a 49-year-old man, DPS said. Their name and current condition have not been provided.
DPS said Edgar Ramos-Esteban was “cited on-scene” while the driver of the Volkswagen was taken to a local hospital. source
Vegtel is survived by her husband, Logan’s father. Her family said her son was her life.
Anyone with possible information on the crash should contact police at 911.
