TX Man Delon Perkins ID’d As Driver In Sunday LA Fatal Crash

DESOTO PARISH, LA. (THECOUNT) — Delon Perkins, of Tyler, Texas, has been identified as the victim in a fatal single-vehicle rollover crash Sunday morning in DeSoto Parish, according to Louisiana State Police. Perkins was 35.

The fatal crash occurred at approximately 6 a.m. Sunday, May 10, along Louisiana Highway 175 near Louisiana Highway 5 in DeSoto Parish, located in northwest Louisiana near the Texas state line.

Troopers with Louisiana State Police responded to the scene following reports of a serious rollover collision involving a southbound vehicle that had exited the roadway.

According to investigators, Perkins was traveling south on Louisiana Highway 175 when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle went off the roadway and overturned.

Authorities have not publicly released additional details regarding what caused the vehicle to leave the highway.

Louisiana State Police confirmed Perkins was properly restrained at the time of the crash.

Despite wearing a seat belt, Perkins sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency personnel.

Troopers stated impairment is not currently suspected as a contributing factor in the crash.

Investigators confirmed toxicology samples were collected and submitted for analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.

No additional vehicles were reported involved in the incident.

Authorities have not publicly identified the make or model of the vehicle involved in the rollover.

Louisiana Highway 175 serves as a regional roadway through portions of rural DeSoto Parish and connects smaller communities throughout northwest Louisiana.

The intersection area near Louisiana Highway 5 is located south of Mansfield, the parish seat of DeSoto Parish, and is commonly traveled by local and regional motorists.

Emergency responders remained at the scene Sunday morning while troopers documented evidence and coordinated removal of the overturned vehicle.

Traffic in the area was impacted for a period of time during the on-scene investigation.

Louisiana State Police have not announced whether weather or roadway conditions played any role in the crash.

Investigators also have not released information regarding the sequence of events immediately before the vehicle exited the roadway.

The crash remains under active investigation by Louisiana State Police.
