CA “Rio Mobility” CEO Bart Kylstra ID’d As Wednesday San Francisco Homicide Victim

SAN FRANCISCO, CA. (THECOUNT) — Bart Kylstra, CEO of Rio Mobility, a Northern California wheelchair startup company, has been identified as the victim found dead in an apparent homicide in San Francisco Wednesday night.

Kylstra, 52, was found dead in a homicide Wednesday night in San Francisco’s Mid-Market neighborhood, authorities said.

Officers responded at 11:30 p.m. to the 1000 block of Market Street and pronounced the man dead at the scene. The city medical examiner identified the victim as San Francisco resident Bart Kylstra.

A LinkedIn profile for Kylstra shows that he was CEO of Rio Mobility, a wheelchair mobility startup located on the same block as the crime.

The Rio website identified the photo above as Kylstra. Local reports say the victim is male. We are working to get more facts.

From the Rio website: “Here at Rio Mobility, we strive to help you broaden your horizons and to accomplish what you never thought possible. The world isn’t engineered for wheelchair users, and often it appears that there has been little thought or consideration for users’ basic needs, like transportation. We are looking for better and innovative ways to help you get where you need to be. Although our ambitions are big, our operation is small. We currently operate out of small office in Mid Market San Francisco. Still, we will do what we can day in and day out to help make a difference for wheelchair users around the world. Rio Mobility has been in operation for 10 years, we are fully FDA approved and licensed and we ship world wide.” source

No suspects have been identified in the case.

Anyone with information on the death should contact police at 911.
