NWA, (THECOUNT) — Wrestling legend José Lothario has reportedly passed on Tuesday. He was 83.
Former NWA President Bruce Tharpe announced the sad news on Twitter.
The news of Lothario’s passing was later confirmed by the Cauliflower Alley Club.
No details on the cause of his death have been made available.
Lothario competed in the NWA for most of his career. He also famously trained Shawn Michaels and appeared in HBK’s corner at WrestleMania XII for the Iron Man match against Bret Hart.
“So thankful that I had the opportunity to induct him into the NWA Hall of Fame while I served as President,” Tharpe wrote on Twitter. “He was so happy and it was my pleasure to induct him. God bless you Jose Lothario and may you Rest In Peace.” source
Lothario is perhaps best known as a Shawn Michaels mentor in a 1995 WWF angle.
