NM Man Gerald Paul Smith ID’d As Victim Killed After Struck By ALBQ Rail Runner Train Tuesday Night

ALBUQUERQUE, NM. (THECOUNT) — Gerald Paul Smith has been identified as the victim struck and killed by a Rail Runner train in Albuquerque Tuesday night

Police say, Smith, 62, was hit by a passenger train in Albuquerque Tuesday and transported to an area hospital where he later succumb to his injuries overnight.

The now fatal collision occurred Tuesday evening near Indian School & Broadway, in Albuquerque NM.

According to State Police, an initial investigation shows that 62-year-old Gerald Paul Smith was trespassing on a restricted area of the tracks when he was hit by the northbound train.

Smith was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Authorities say it’s not yet clear whether alcohol was a factor in the incident and the investigation is still ongoing.
