New Evidence Places Nolan Wells On Horn Island After Friends’ Boat Left

HORN ISLAND, MS. (THECOUNT) — New information reportedly emerging in the investigation into the death of Nolan Wells indicates authorities may have evidence that the teenager remained on Horn Island after the boat carrying his friends departed on July 4, according to reports.

Horn Island is a barrier island off the Mississippi Gulf Coast, located near Ocean Springs and part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore. The remote island is accessible primarily by boat and has been the focus of an investigation following Wells’ disappearance during the Fourth of July holiday.

According to TMZ, sources with knowledge of the investigation claim authorities have evidence showing Wells was still on the island after his friends’ boat left the area. The report also states that at least two witnesses interviewed by law enforcement said they saw Wells on Horn Island after the boat departed for the mainland.

If confirmed, the reported evidence could significantly affect the timeline investigators are examining regarding Wells’ final known movements.

Wells was reported missing after the holiday outing and was later found dead in the water several days after his disappearance. Authorities have continued investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

The case has gained additional attention following discussion of an emergency call made after the boat carrying Wells’ friends experienced problems on the water. TMZ reported that enhanced audio from the call led some listeners to believe a voice could be heard asking, “Is he dead?”

However, sources told TMZ that people aboard the boat who reviewed the enhanced audio believe the comments were related to panic during the emergency situation rather than a reference to Wells. The call was reportedly made by Wyatt Pyron to Sea Tow, a private marine assistance service.

Sources said Sea Tow was responding to assist the stranded boat, but another boater who witnessed the situation ultimately helped tow the group instead.

Warren Hudson, who has described himself as one of Wells’ best friends, previously said in an interview that he last saw Wells around 3 p.m. on July 4. Hudson also said he spoke with someone who claimed to have seen Wells on the island around 6 p.m.

Hudson has maintained that his group was not the last to see Wells, saying there were many other boats still near the island when they departed. He said the group encouraged Wells to leave with them, but that Wells chose to remain behind.

Wells’ family has continued seeking answers and is conducting its own investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. Reports indicate an independent medical examiner was provided with Wells’ body, though questions have been raised regarding the condition of the remains and available autopsy materials.

Authorities have not publicly confirmed the reported evidence placing Wells on Horn Island after the boat left, and the official investigation remains ongoing.
