SAN FERNANDO, CA. (THECOUNT) — Bob Morales, the brother of rock & roll icon Ritchie Valens has passed away.
Morales, Valens’ older brother, was the oldest of five siblings. It remains unclear what caused Morales’ death.
The family confirmed Morales’ passing on Facebook Sunday morning, writing that he “was reunited with his brother Ritchie.”

Valens famously died in a plane crash on February 3, 1959, a day known as the Day the Music Died.
Morales’ family posted more tributes to Morales on Facebook Monday, calling Morales “an amazing man.”
Morale was portrayed in the 1987 film “La Bamba” about Valens’ life by actor Esai Morales, who took to Facebook to express his condolences.
Many moons ago, Morales and his family moved to San Fernando Valley. It was there that his younger brother Ritchie started playing in a garage band called The Silhouettes. And the rest is music history.
