BRIDGEPORT, CT. (THECOUNT) — A Bridgeport woman is recovering in an area hospital following an explosion at her home Thursday night.
Reports say, The victim, who has not been identified, said she thought she was lighting a candle when the power was out last night but actually lit a quarter stick of dynamite.
Police said it happened around 9:20 p.m. on Lindley Street in Bridgeport. The woman sustained significant damage to her hands and was taken to Bridgeport Hospital. source
State police, the state fire marshal, the state police bomb squad, Bridgeport police officers and firefighters and the staff from the city fire marshal’s office responded and houses on either side of the victim’s house were evacuated as a precaution.
Investigators searched the house and surrounding area and found another device in the house, according to police.
