CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC. (THECOUNT) — Constance Brown, 56, and her son Benjamin, 20, have been identified as the Sunday Lake Moultrie, Berkeley County, SC, drowning victims
A Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office named the Dorchester County mother and son as the victims pulled from the water following a Sunday boating accident in Berkeley County.
Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury ruled the deaths as accidental drownings.
Three people were in a 14-foot fishing boat around 7 p.m. Sunday when it was swamped by a wave and overturned, according to Salisbury. An older man survived and has since been released from the hospital. Another boat with four boys drove up on the capsized boat to find the older man holding on. They pulled him in and the older man told the boys that Brown and her son had floated to the shore, according to Salisbury. source
Salisbury said nobody was wearing one of the lifejackets made available on the vessel.
