ALTON, NH. (THECOUNT) — William Rowan has been identified as the Wilmington, North Carolina, man killed in a Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire boating accident Friday.
Rowan, 35, died after the captain of the vessel, in which he was traveling, made an abrupt maneuver while departing the dock area, causing him to fall off the boat and into the water in the area of Little Mark Island in Alton.
Police say the vessel then struck Rowan causing serious blunt force trauma injuries.

Rowan was retrieved and transported to the shore where he was later pronounced dead.
Police say the accident remains under investigation, but it appears a boat operator error might have played a role.
They say they believe the operator of the vessel was a 74-year-old Connecticut man.
