SAN DIEGO, CA. (THECOUNT) — The driver of the McLaren sports car involved in a fiery fatal crash on Interstate 805 Thursday has been identified as Youtube star, Trevor Heitmann.
Heitmann, 18, was driving a 2014 McLaren supercar that collided with an SUV, killing himself, and a 43-year-old woman and her 12-year-old daughter, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
Heitmann is allegedly a popular YouTube personality who goes by the name of “McSkillet,” according to numerous gaming website reports.
McSkillet’s YouTube page lists numerous videos surrounding the video game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive including “skins” or weapon customizations and tips on earning sponsors.
One of the videos on McSkillet’s page shows off a black McLaren and talks about how his earnings as a YouTube and Counter-Strike “Steam” content producer helped pay for the luxury sports car. source
(ORIGINAL STORY) A tragedy is unfolding after a mother and daughter from San Diego were killed when a wrong-way driver in a McLaren, collided with their vehicle on Interstate 805, the medical examiner’s office said Friday.
An unidentified 18-year-old man was driving a McLaren the wrong way on I-805 in University City during the evening rush-hour commute, California Highway Patrol officers said.
The McLaren collided with a 2010 Hyundai, killing a 43-year-old woman and her 12-year-old daughter, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The McLaren was traveling southbound on the northbound I-805 HOV lane in excess of 100 mph when he crashed head-on into an SUV, killing the driver and passenger of the SUV, according to the CHP. source
Eight people were injured in the crash that happened near the Governor Drive exit, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
The names of the victims or the wrong-way driver have not been released pending notification of family.
The crash remains under investigation.
