LIVINGSTON COUNTY, KY. (THECOUNT) — Amy Chavez of Gilbertsville, Kentucky, has been identified as the woman killed in a crash on Interstate 24 Tuesday.
Chavez, 42, was killed just before 4:00 p.m., after Kentucky State Police were called to I-24 westbound for a crash near the Tennessee River Bridge.
Troopers say 42-year-old Amy Chavez of Gilbertsville, Kentucky, was driving west in the right-hand lane of I-24 when, for an unknown reason, she did not see traffic slowing on the Tennessee River Bridge. source
Chavez then failed to stop and hit the rear end of a semi in the right lane. That semi was being driven by 24-year-old Hovhannes Navasardyan of Arleta, California.
Chavez was pronounced dead at the scene.
All three drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
An investigation is ongoing.
