ESCONDIDO, CA. (THECOUNT) — Ana Soto and Veronica Soto Ortega, have been named as the Escondido sisters killed in a violent double-murder Thursday.
Soto, 26, Ortega, 30, were named by authorities Monday as the two sisters from Escondido who died violent deaths last week, allegedly at the hands of the estranged husband of Ortega, Juan Carlos Ortega.
Thursday morning, firefighters extinguishing a blaze engulfing a parked white SUV at the intersection of Country Club & Kauana Loa drive, Escondido, CA in the unincorporated Harmony Grove area when they discovered the body Soto inside the vehicle.
Officers later discovered the body of Ortega, 30, in a residence to which the burned vehicle was registered.
Two children found sleeping unharmed in the house were taken into protective custody and later released to family members.
Homicide detectives later arrested Soto Ortega’s husband, 33-year-old Juan Carlos Ortega, and charged him with the slayings.
Ortega was booked into county jail in Vista on suspicion of arson and two counts of murder. He was being held without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Monday afternoon. source
