LAKE COUNTY, IL. (THECOUNT) — Jason Sacone, of Arlington Heights, has been identified as the drowning victim who died Saturday night after being pulled from the water while boating on Chain O’ Lakes.
Sacone, 23, died Saturday from drowning, and toxicology reports are still pending, according to Dr. Howard Cooper, the Lake County coroner.
“We have been in close contact with Jason’s family and our sincerest condolences go out to them,” Cooper said in a statement. “This is truly a tragedy.” source
According to authorities, the sheriff’s Marine Unit responded to a call of an unresponsive person at the Petite Lake Sandbar around 5:05 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4. Sacone had already been pulled out of the water by the time deputies arrived, the sheriff’s office said.
Once at the scene, deputies performed CPR on Sacone and used an automated external defibrillator while they waited for paramedics, according to the sheriff’s office. He was then taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was pronounced dead, the agency added.
