POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY, OK. (THECOUNT) — Roger Harris, 35, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, died Thursday after the vehicle he was driving left the roadway, overturned, and struck a tree along Garretts Lake Road in Pottawatomie County, according to authorities. A passenger in the vehicle was injured.
Pottawatomie County is located in central Oklahoma, approximately 40 miles east of Oklahoma City.
Emergency crews responded to the single-vehicle crash at approximately 5:30 p.m. Thursday on Garretts Lake Road.
Investigators said Harris was traveling westbound when, for reasons that remain under investigation, his vehicle departed the right side of the roadway.
Authorities said the vehicle rolled over before colliding with a tree.
Harris suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead as a result of the crash.
A passenger in the vehicle was also injured. Officials have not released the passenger’s identity or provided an update on their condition.
The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation. Authorities have not released additional details regarding a possible contributing factor.
