NEW YORK, NY. (THECOUNT) — The man who jumped out of a freezer and threatened employees with a knife at a New York City eatery and then died after being detained by employees, has been identified as Carlton Henderson, who had just been released from jail in Boston and was a suspect in a cold-case killer.
(ORIGINAL STORY) — A man is dead Sunday after allegedly sneak attacking employees at upscale eatery, Sarabeth’s Restaurant, located at, 423 Amsterdam Ave in New York, NY, on the Upper West Side.
Police arrived on-scene around 11 a.m. on Saturday after a man surprised workers by jumping out of the restaurant’s freezer while lunging with a knife.
The employees were able to tackle the man onto the ground. Police said once the man was on the ground he “suffered a medical condition.” source
The suspect was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Investigators say that an autopsy will be performed to determine a cause of death in the case.
Police said the man is from Arizona and they are not sure how he got into the freezer. He was not immediately identified by authorities.
