HEREFORD, TX. (THECOUNT) — Jonathan “Joey” Mendoza, has been identified as the suspect shot and killed in an officer-involved shooting in Hereford Wednesday, say the Amarillo Police Department.
Mendoza, 35, was in the process of being arrested on multiple outstanding parole violation warrants when the fatal shooting occurred.
According to APD, Mendoza was wanted on charges including, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, assault household member impeding circulation or breathing and terroristic threat.
The Texas Rangers remain investigating the shooting and all findings will be turned over to the District Attorney’s Office for review once completed. source
Mendoza was pronounced dead at the scene of gunshot wounds.
