PATCHOGUE, NY. (THECOUNT) — Salvatore C. Deforca, of Patchogue, has been identified as the body of a man found floating in the Patchogue River Thursday night, police said.
Deforca, 30, was found floating in the river near the end of Crescent Street at about 8:10 p.m. after officers from the Marine Bureau responded to calls of a body in the water.
The death does not appear to be criminal in nature, police said, but Homicide Squad detectives are continuing to investigate. source
Deforca was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy will be conducted by the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death.
