BILLINGS, MT. (THECOUNT) — Maxwell L. Newlin has been identified as the Billings, MT., man killed while operating a motorcycle on King Avenue West Thursday.

Billings Police Department investigators reported a motorcycle crash Thursday night that left one male motorcyclist with injuries described as both “serious” and “life-threatening.” That man, later identified as Newlin, 32, died after being transported to an area hospital.

Newlin died of blunt force trauma after striking a curb and being ejected from his bike.

He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The name of the man who died in Thursday night’s motorcycle crash has been released. Maxwell L. Newlin, 32, of Billings was identified as the victim of the fatal accident Saturday by Chief Deputy Coroner Cliff Mahoney of the Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office. Police noted Newlin was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

A second motorcyclist traveling with Newlin was uninjured in the crash and says he was “neither involved, nor believed to be a factor in the incident.”

The crash remains under investigation.
