ELYRIA, OH. (THECOUNT) — Carl Webb has been identified as the Elyria man killed in a motorcycle-vs-Ford Escape collision on Cleveland Road West in Sandusky, OH.
The Elyria man was operating a 2005 Harley Davidson with his wife, Shirley Webb, as his passenger, when the fatal Erie County crash occurred Saturday.
The couple were thrown from the bike during the collision and both suffered blunt force trauma.
The injured couple was transported to an area hospital where Carl was later pronounced dead. Shirley remains in serious condition.
According to reports, the couple was traveling east on Cleveland road in Sandusky when their 2005 Harley Davidson struck a 2011 Ford escape from the rear around 8:30p.m. The driver of the Harley Davidson, identified as Carl Webb of Elryia, and his passenger Shirley Webb were both ejected from the motorcycle at the time of the crash. source
An accident report noted that neither of the victims were wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver of the the Escape, Dale Thompson, and his four passengers were uninjured in the wreck.
The crash investigation is ongoing.
