Texas man, Ryan Joseph, has been identified as the Ferris resident involved in a strange fatal accident that remains under investigation by Ferris Police.
Joseph, 25, was killed after he suddenly exited the cab of a box truck operated by his stepfather for an unknown reason while traveling on I-45 in Red Oak on Tuesday.
Police officers were dispatched at about 8 p.m. to the northbound lanes of I-45 between the 266-267 mile markers on reports of an injured man in the roadway.
“We are still investigating. The truck appears to be in good shape. We are not finding any indication that he was pushed,” Ferris Police investigator Walter Weiss said. “It looks like Ryan opened the door to the truck.” Weiss stated Joseph was sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle next to his stepfather, who was driving, at the time of the incident. source
Joseph was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not found indications of a physical altercation between the two men.
Reports say, there were no signs of alcohol use or drugs inside the cab of the truck.
Police examined the truck and found it to be mechanically sound.
Foul play is not suspected.
The investigation remains ongoing at this time.
