WAYNE COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — Andy Evans, Evans Farm owner and the former mayor of Fremont, North Carolina, was found dead Saturday, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials are conducting an investigation on Evans Farm Road in Fremont.
No other information was made immediately available.
The investigation is ongoing.
A decade ago, Wayne County deputies investigated a stabbing that left one man dead at a house owned by then Fremont mayor Andy Evans.
At the time, local news reports said a group of migrant workers who tend Evans’ soybean and tobacco fields lived at the residence.
The former Mayor was still a well-known eastern North Carolina area soybean and tobacco grower.
