A decade ago, Wayne County deputies investigated a stabbing that left one man dead at a house owned by then Fremont mayor Andy Evans.
At the time, local news reports said a group of migrant workers who tend Evans’ soybean and tobacco fields lived at the residence.
The former Mayor was still a well-known eastern North Carolina area soybean and tobacco grower.
