Ohio police are investigating the robbery of a woman that turned deadly at a Columbus gas station after a group of witnesses followed the suspect in an attempt to detain him Sunday morning.
Columbus Division of Police say several males chased a robbery suspect after witnessing him accost a woman visiting a Speedway Gas Station, located at, 1442 N Cassady Ave, Columbus, OH.
After a brief chase, the group of “Good Samaritans” cornered the suspect near the rear of the airport Sheraton Hotel, and an altercation ensued, police say.
When officers arrived to the scene they found the suspect, (going forward referred to as the “victim,”) laying gravely injured in the rear of the Four Points Hotel by Sheraton.
The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The identities of all parties involved are being withheld by police until the victim’s next of kin is notified.
Police say they have not yet determined if they will file any criminal charges in the case.
Anyone with any information on the case, or anyone that may have witnessed any or all of the incident, is urged to contact Columbus Police at 911.
