MN Mother Of Boy 7 Who Shot Self In Head After Finding Loaded Gun In Box Containing New Hoverboard Claims Didn’t Know Gun Was In Plymouth Home

The Plymouth, Minnesota mother of seven-year-old Keyaris Samuels, the boy who died of a gunshot wound to the head Wednesday afternoon after finding a loaded handgun in their home, is claiming she didn’t know the gun was inside the dwelling.

At 3:04 p.m., Plymouth police officers received a call of a person down. Upon arrival to the 6000 block of Shenandoah Lane, police located a male victim bleeding from the head.

First responders arrived and performed CPR, but the boy, identified as Samuels, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Plymouth Police Chief Mike Goldstein, Samuels found the loaded handgun in a box containing a new hoverboard. He was alone in the home at the time, but several other children were playing outside.

The other children heard the gunshot and found Samuels inside. They ran to a neighbor, who then reported the tragic incident to police.

Friends of the family say the little boy was one of four siblings and that his mother is a hardworking single mom.

The boy’s mother told police she was not aware there was a gun in the home. Investigators are still working to determine who was the owner of the gun.source
