Robert “Bob” Cruz has been named as the man shot and killed by a San Antonio police officer Monday evening in an incident that occurred on the city’s East side.
Officials responded to S Pine St & Iowa St., at about 5:45 p.m. on reports of an officer-involved shooting.
Police said the man was pointing a gun at people at the VIA bus stop. When the officer arrived, he found him walking away from the bus stop. The officer started honking at him to get his attention. Police said the suspect then spun toward him and opened fire on the officer. A VIA Police officer then pulled up behind the officer when the shooting started. The officer returned fire through the windshield of his vehicle, striking the suspect, who fled around 15 yards before collapsing and dying.source
