Joseph Edwards Ables, 69, has been identified as the Florida man accused of shooting Florida sheriff’s deputy William Gentry Sunday night. Gentry has since passes away as a result of his injuries.
Gentry, 40, was shot Sunday evening after responding to a call Sunday about a neighbor shooting a cat in Lake Placid.
Gentry interviewed the cat owner at their residence and based on information gathered there, departed that location and arrived at Ables’ residence, the alleged feline shooter.
Upon arrival, Ables opened fire striking the officer in the head.
Gentry went to Ables’ house, where Ables immediately opened fire and shot the deputy in the head, police said. source
