One of two good samaritans that stopped to assist a man who had been involved in a single-vehicle accident on I-8 in El Cajon, was killed Sunday after being struck by another vehicle. The victim of the original crash was also killed in same incident.

The tragic accident occurred after an oncoming vehicle traveling along I-8 failed to see two people standing on the side of the roadway. Both were struck and killed, said the CHP.

Two good Samaritans were traveling along I-8 when they observed a single vehicle that had been involved in a crash. The good Samaritans pulled over and assisted the victim of the crash in exiting his vehicle. One of the good Samaritans and the crash victim were chatting along the side of the road when an oncoming vehicle struck and killed them.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the single-vehicle crash and resulting incident occurred on I-8 near El Cajon Blvd, El Cajon, CA., just before 1:30 a.m.

Authorities haven’t ruled out drugs or alcohol being factors in the original single-vehicle crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
