Tania Rendon Named As Victim In San Antonio Police Involved Murder-Suicide

The victim in a police involved murder-suicide incident north of downtown on Monday night has been identified as 36-year-old Tania Rendon-Santiago.

Rendon-Santiago was the victim in an incident that occurred during an argument between her and a man.

The incident happened at about 11 p.m. on the fourth floor of a condo in the 1800 block of Broadway. When officers arrived, 36-year-old Tania Rendon-Santiago was found dead, and the shooter, an unidentified 37-year-old man, was also found dead after turning the gun on himself. After the argument started, police said the woman was holding a sliding glass door closed to keep the man from coming inside. She was screaming “Someone call 911.” Luckily, neighbors heard and called police. source

Police said at least half a dozen shots were fired. The woman ended up falling through broken glass, and when the shooter heard sirens, he then killed himself. By the time police opened the door using forced entry, he was already dead.

Police are looking into what caused the argument. The man’s identity remains unknown at this time.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help out with expences.

From GoFundMe:

Tania Rendon was truly one of Gods angels on this earth. Tania always took the time to listen and make you feel better. Her generosity and compassion for others was a testament to her character. She had the heart and charisma of a princess and was loved by so many.

Tania came from Palm Springs, CA. She was so incredibly intelligent and driven. She was a graduate student at Texas A&M University, obtained her BA in Psychology in 2006, and an MA in Experimental Psychology in 2008 from California State University San Marcos (CSUSM). She moved to Houston in 2008 and worked with low income special needs individuals and their families. Her research interests included multicultural psychology and mental health disparities among Mexican immigrant males. Tania’s long term goals were to help create mental health awareness in low income communities and to conduct multicultural research.

Tania was very proud of her Latina heritage. Her inspirations are her parents and two brothers. Her parents taught her strong work ethics, courage, love, and compassion. The admiration and support she received from her brothers gave her the strength to continue to pursue her dreams and goals.

Tania was a party starter. She knew everyone. With her charisma she brought people together with ease. She liked spending time with friends and family, shopping, watching international films, hot and spicy food, and Frida Kahlo de Rivera. One of her favorite quotes was “Our greatest glory consists not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” – Confucius

This fund was created by Tanias closest friends to help her parents and brothers with any expenses in this devastating time. All proceeds will go directly to Tanias immediate family. There’s no obligation to donate, but any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you everyone so much for your support in this matter.

Tania has touched so many peoples lives. She will never be forgotten, and will always live on in the hearts of all that loved her. She will always be young, she will always be beautiful, in heaven.
