Authorities have identified a missing Paw Paw River kayaker in Berrien County as 35-year-old Cory Wright, from Niles.
Emergency crews continued to search for Wright on Thursday in an area that ranges in depth from 3-12 feet.
According to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, the water level is higher Thursday, and the current is swift.
Police say three people were kayaking Tuesday night on the Paw Paw River near Smith Street in Watervliet when Wright went missing. source
At about 7:45 p.m., two of the kayaks hit a log in the river, and all three men were thrown from the kayaks.
Officials said swift waters are to blame for the incident.
