Eugene Cleve Staley Sr. Stabbed To Death In NC Home 8-Year-Old Boy Injured

A man found stabbed to death inside a home in Ramseur, NC, early Monday morning is the father of a man who made news in June for committing a home invasion in the same area.

Eugene Cleve Staley Sr. has been identified by the State Bureau of Investigation as the man found dead in a Ramseur home. He was 47. His son, Eugene Cleve Staley jr., made headlines along with a female accomplice after they were arrested for assaulting a man in his home last summer.

Early Monday morning, Staley Sr. was found inside a home on Columbia Avenue. The call came in around 2:45 a.m. from a neighbor who reported that the victim’s 8-year-old son ran to tell them something was wrong. According to the neighbors, the boy ran to them with no shoes or shirt. He also had a wound to his arm. The boy is currently in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. source

Back in June, Tammy Medina, 40, Staley Jr., 28, were both charged with first-degree burglary, attempted common law robbery, and felony conspiracy after Randolph County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a burglary in progress at 860 Edwards Farm Road in Ramseur.

The victim told deputies that he had heard a knock on his front door, looked out and recognized a woman. When he opened the door, the woman and a man rushed in and repeatedly struck him on his head and face, yelling about money. The attack stopped when neighbors began knocking and yelling outside the house.

When deputies arrived on-scene, Medina and Staley Jr. exited the residence followed by another man, who was bleeding. The injured man, who turned out to be the homeowner, suffered head and facial injuries. It is unclear if the parties knew each other. source
