Randy Williams has been identified as the Lincolnton, NC., man struck and killed in the Monkey Junction area Sunday evening.
According to First Sgt. King with the State Highway Patrol, Williams, 51, died after he walked in front of a truck and was struck.
Sgt. Hugh Cannady with the State Highway Patrol said the truck was traveling northbound when it hit Williams, who was leaving the Scotchman gas station at the corner of the South College Road and Piner Road. First Sgt. King said the driver of the truck was not speeding and not impaired at the time of the collision and isn’t facing charges. source
Officials said that it is suspected that the victim may have been impaired by alcohol.
