A Farmington, MI., teen is facing murder charges after being accused of pushing his mother, Nada Houranieh, personal trainer at Franklin Athletic Club, out of the window of their Farmington Hills home. Houranieh died after injuries she sustained in the over 30-foot fall.
The 16-year-old son has been charged with first-degree murder for allegedly killing 35-year-old Houranieh. Prosecutors say the teen threw her out of a third-floor window of their Farmington Hills home on Howard Street.
The incident happened early Monday morning as the teen’s two younger sisters, ages 12 and 14, were the house. Prosecutors say the mother was found lying on the pavement.
The teen in shackles and handcuffs didn’t show any emotion in court. His father sat behind him and said something quietly to him as he was being led away.
Incidentally, according to published reports, the suspect’s father Bassel Altantawi pleaded guilty to medical fraud last March. He and the victim were in the process of getting a divorce, and he currently lives in an apartment in Canton.
There was no mention of motive in the murder in court but prosecutors say it was premeditated.
With a hearing scheduled for August 30, prosecutors are recommending he be tried as an adult. source
