Anti-violence group founder, Calvetta Williams, was taken into custody after a child in her care was found scratched and bruised Wednesday.
Williams, 46, the founder of Mothers Against Violence, is behind bars Wednesday on a charge of child endangerment causing bodily injury after parents hired her to babysit and returned home to find the child battered.
According to a police report, Williams was babysitting a child from July 13 – 14. The parents of the child noticed she had several marks and scratches on her face, arms and eye. Police records indicated Williams was taken to Polk County Jail Tuesday without bond. source
Police said when asked Williams could not explain the child’s injuries.
Williams founded the group in 2013 in an effort to “help eliminate violence in the metro.”
The child is expected to make a full recovery.
