Larry Jerome Bailey is in custody after being named as the suspect in an alleged sexual assault and attempted kidnapping in Myers Park, police said.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said Bailey, 21, has been taken into custody in connection with the attack earlier this week.
Police said Bailey confessed to the attack, as well as another incident Friday morning where he grabbed and fondled a female jogger on East Boulevard near Cleveland Avenue. The reported incident happened about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday on Briarcliff Place in Myers Park, police said.
Neighbors said the victim was a teenager who was walking home. The suspect inappropriately touched the girl and attempted to restrain her against her will, police said.
Bailey has an arrest record going back to 2014, for a myriad of offences, including busts for pot and more recently, assault of a government official.
