Sareyi Ahmed, has been named as the boy who drowned in Lake Michigan on Tuesday evening near Atwater Park in Shorewood.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office report said Ahmed, 14, went out onto the pier and told his friends to film him when he jumped into the water. The friends said said he did not resurface.
Emergency responders said his body was recovered about 40 minutes after he went under.
Ahmed’s friends said they had never been swimming with him but thought he could swim because of the way he was just going to jump in. The lake at that location is approximately 7 feet deep and has a very sandy bottom. source
