Travis Kalanick, the founder of Uber has lost his mother in a freak boating accident.
The accident occurred at a lake near Big Bear, CA.
On Friday afternoon around 5:30, Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene of a boat sinking near the Trimmer Springs Marina at Pine Flat Lake.
People nearby saw the boat sinking and rushed for help. When first responders arrived, the boat had already sunk.
Deputies tell us that a woman died in the incident, and a man was taken to an area hospital.
No one saw what caused the boat to sink, but deputies will be raising it from the water on Saturday to further investigate.
