The FBI announced Thursday its offering $15,000 for information leading to the recovery of Hailey Burns, who vanished one year ago.
Burns family members say they found the front door of their home on Baldwin Hall Drive unlocked and their 16-year-old daughter was gone. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black long-sleeved T-shirt with Marilyn Monroe on it and Converse tennis shoes.
Hailey has severe medical conditions that require medication and she didn’t not take any of them with her, the FBI said.
The FBI said the teenager had a number of social media accounts, some of which were not on mainstream sites. The FBI and Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have identified online profiles believed to have belonged to Hailey, but investigators said they may not have a complete list.
Hailey’s parents told Erica they received a new tip recently from a Myers Park High School classmate saying that Hailey had been talking to a 30-year-old man for over six months. The teen’s classmate seemed to suggest that her abductor might have taken her to Tennessee or somewhere in the Midwest.
Anyone with information concerning Hailey’s whereabouts should contact the FBI’s Charlotte Field Office at 704-672-6100 or Charlotte-Mecklenburg Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
