Texas State Senator Carlos Uresti turned himself in to be fingerprinted and photographed after being indicted on a slew of criminal charges.
On Wednesday morning, a lawyer representing Uresti said the lawmaker will plead not guilty on Wednesday to charges connected to an alleged investment scheme. The plea come on the heels of a grand jury indictment on Tuesday for multiple felony fraud charges including bribery, wire fraud, conspiracy to commit money laundering and securities fraud.
The indictments accuse Uresti of engaging in an investment Ponzi scheme to market fracking sand for oil production. He’s also charged in of aiding a bribery scheme to secure a prison medical services contract. h/t news4sanantonio
