VIA: Police have identified the man they believe was behind the wheel of a BMW that hit and killed a bicyclist along 3500 South Sunday afternoon.
In a prepared statement Monday, West Valley City police said they’re looking for Dylon S. Cooke, 32, of Salt Lake City.
Cook is accused of hitting John Kinn, 65, as Kinn was riding his bicycle westbound on 3500 South. Kinn died from his injuries.
Following the accident at 5504 South, police say Cook parked his car in a nearby parking lot and left on foot. Authorities searched for him Sunday evening but were unable to locate him.
Subsequent investigation helped police identify Cook, and they are asking for help from the public to locate him.
Police describe Cook as a black man who is between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds. Police say he had black dreadlocks at the time of the accident.
Anyone with information is asked to contact West Valley City police at 801-840-4000.
