After 12 years Nancy Grace has been canceled on HLN. Grace officially signed off, ending her longtime crime investigation program Thursday night.
Grace, 56, featured some of her most outrageous moments on her final show, including her epic coverage of the Casey Anthony trial, before thanking her fans and saying: ‘It’s not goodbye, it’s just good night friend.’
Grace who wanted to be a literature professor when she finished high school, decided to become a prosecutor after her fiancé Keith Griffin, 23, was murdered before their wedding day in 1979. She was 19 at the time. Grace then gave up her dream and switched to law school instead, determined to crack down on violent crime. As a prosecutor in inner-city Atlanta, Georgia, she built up a perfect prosecution record, convicting some 100 felons with no losses. After a chance meeting with the founder of CourtTV, Steven Brill, she began co-hosting a show with Johnnie Cochran, OJ Simpson’s defense attorney. When Cochran left the show, Grace was moved to a solo trial coverage show on Court TV. The Nancy Grace show on HLN, CNN’s sister network, began in February 2005. h/t dailymail

There was a time when I really liked Nancy Grace. Back in her Court TV days, she was someone I admired and watched daily because of how she called out the garbage some people tried to pass off. The problem I started having came after her switch to HLN. It seemed that her "calling out" became nothing more than rude bullying of anyone who dared speak an opinion that differed from her own. It got to the point where if I did bother watching her show, I'd barely make it through fifteen or so minutes before her aggression sent my blood pressure through the roof! It seemed to me that they were scheduling certain guests just so Nancy could yell at them, cutting them off and generally, in my opinion, being a total schoolyard bully. I didn't even realize her show was canceled until I saw a promo for the new show taking its time slot. Frankly, I think it was a long overdue step by HLN and look forward to the new show with a non bully! Just watched Ashley's first episode and was pleased to see someone in that time slot who didn't feel the need to yell, snarl and generally act a bully. Best wishes to Ashley! It will be nice to actually want to watch HLN for that time period again!
