Popular British lawmaker, Jo Cox, was murdered in a shooting and stabbing attack in her constituency on Thursday.
Cox, 41, a member of the opposition Labour Party, was attacked shortly before 1 p.m. in Birstall, nesa the city of Leeds.
A man has been arrested in relation to the incident, police added. Both NBC News’ U.K. partner ITV News and the BBC said Cox had been shot and stabbed. Her husband posted a photo with no caption on Twitter of a smiling Cox along the river where the two have a houseboat. Cox was scheduled to hold office hours with constituents Thursday at the Birstall Library. h/t nbcnews
