A War Of Roses is developing in the race for the Republican nomination as Donald Trump threatened Tuesday to “expose” something juicy about the wife of fellow candidate Ted Cruz.
Trump tweeted Tuesday saying that he would “spill the beans” on Heidi Cruz. The comments came after Cruz released an ad using photos from Melania Trump‘s photoshoot with GQ.

The problem? Those ads didn’t come from Cruz’s campaign. They were released by the anti-Trump super PAC Make America Awesome, run by Republican strategist Liz Mair. According to BuzzFeed News, the ads featuring Melania Trump are being promoted on Instagram, exclusively to Mormon women.Mair took credit for the ads in tweets on Tuesday night. Mair also suggested that Trump’s campaign has been “pushing around rumors” that Heidi Cruz — who took a leave of absence from her executive position at Goldman Sachs to help her husband seek the White House — was a “criminal” and mentally ill. Amanda Carpenter, a former communications director for Ted Cruz’s Senate office, defended Cruz, saying that the Texas senator and Republican presidential candidate “is not going after Trump’s wife.” h/t mashable
Cruz’s campaign tweeted on Tuesday night that they had nothing to do with the attacks, calling Trump “classless” for threatening to attack the Texas senator’s wife.
