El Franco Lee, the Harris County Precinct One Commissioner, has died suddenly. Lee’s family confirmed that the Commissioner suffered fatal a heart attack and passed away at 10:01am Sunday.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Kaye and two children.
Commissioner El Franco Lee, is a native Houstonian, where he began his political career in 1979 when he was elected Texas State Representative for District 142. In 1985, he was elected and sworn in as the first African-American Harris Co. Commissioner, where he has been serving his seventh term. Commissioner Lee is a graduate of Texas Southern University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Technology and postgraduate studies at the TSU’s School of Public Affairs, and at the University of Houston. h/t abc13
