Four-time All-Star Joaquin Andujar has died. He was 62.

ESPN Deportes reports Andujar died in the Dominican Republic after a long battle with diabetes. The Cardinals released the following statement following Andujar’s death:

Joaquin Andujar has died

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of the best pitchers in Cardinals history,” Cardinals Chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. said. “Joaquin Andujar was ‘One Tough Dominican’ who endeared himself to Cardinals fans not only with his great talent, but also with his unrivaled passion for the game. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his friends and his teammates today.” h/t cbssports

The Cardinals will pay tribute to Andujar prior to Tuesday night’s game against the Cubs at Busch Stadium.
